Hand’s On Spontaneous Practice

How High?

Read:

1. You will have 3 minutes to plan, discuss and look over materials and then 5 minutes to build a structure. You may not build before time is started. You may talk during planning time but not during building time.

2. You have been given (in the bag) the following items to use:

8 paper cups

2 plastic forks

1 strip of round stickers

4 sheets of post-it-notes

4 small pipe cleaners

1 push pin

1 dental floss

1 can of shaving cream

3. You may use the items as you wish with the exception of the shaving cream and the bag You may only get shaving cream from the can. You may not use the can in the structure. You may not destroy the can or the bag. You are not to put the shaving cream on anyone else.

4. Your team will be judged on the following:

A. How tall your structure is at the end of time or when you have it measured. The choice is yours.

B. You will receive two (2) points for every item that you use that you were given.

C. You will receive one (1) point per inch of height of your structure.

D. You will be judged on how well you work as a team. 1 (low)–10 (high)

5. When everyone is completed and judging has been decided you will clean your area.

Your problem is for your team to build the tallest structure, using the most items in five (5) minutes.
